他就是黄西（Joe Wong），著名亚裔脱口秀演员，曾在大卫莱特曼（David Letterman)、史蒂芬柯贝尔（Stephen Colbert）、艾伦（Ellen）的脱口秀等著名电视节目中多次表演。

提起自己的喜剧生涯，黄西多少有些无心插柳的感觉，虽然从小喜欢幽默，也有天分，但他其实是化学专业出身，在德州莱斯大学获得生化博士学位之后一直在实验室工作。

2000年他搬到麻州，在剑桥一家跨国基因制药公司的实验室做科研，除了工作压力大，黄西还看到有同事被不公平对待甚至遭到解雇。心情不佳的他常常去看波士顿当地的脱口秀演出，看完感到轻松愉快；黄西表示，波士顿的脱口秀土壤非常丰厚，酒吧通常都有演出机会。黄西讲完自己的段子，正在忐忑观众的反应，岂料一个大汉走过来，很友善的说：“哥们，我猜你说得挺搞笑，但我真的没有听懂。”

人们经常对黄西那些引人发笑的段子的来源感到好奇。黄西分享说，他的灵感往往来自日常生活的小片段，尤其在被邀请至白宫记者年会晚宴表演时，他更是投入了大量心思，准备了与会者能够共鸣的内容：“我通常不太涉猎政治类笑话，但为了这次的聚会，我创作了一些既贴近场合又能引发共鸣的素材。”这场演出不仅证实了他的实力，也展示了黄西的表演才华和对生活的深刻洞察力。

他的脱口秀，有啥不一样？

2011年，黄西接连奔赴清华大学等全国8所高校进行专题为“一个生化博士的喜剧人生”的巡回演讲，并出版自传《黄瓜的黄，西瓜的西》。2013年加盟CCTV《是真的吗？》。2016年，成功在北京举办了“西闻乐见”圣诞脱口秀演出。随后他还担任《CSM中国职业脱口秀大赛》的评委，为新锐脱口秀演员提供宝贵指导。2020-2021年，相继出版了《有梗》和《滚蛋吧自卑》。《给脱口秀的一封情书》于2023年出版，笑点密集，可以说是一部段子扎心的脱口秀小说。
